Denver Housing Authority (DHA)

Overview

The Denver Housing Authority provides affordable housing options for low-income Denver residents through public housing properties and the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program. DHA owns and manages affordable housing communities and administers federal rental assistance vouchers.

  • Some buildings/floors designated for elderly residents (62+)

Current Waitlist Status

As of February 2026, DHA's Section 8 waitlist is CLOSED and not scheduled to reopen soon.

  • DHA uses an annual online interest lottery (not a traditional waitlist)
  • Entries do not carry over; you must re-register each year when the lottery opens
  • Selected individuals receive a mailed HCV application to complete with documentation

2026 Partnership

In February 2026, DHA and the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless announced a partnership for family housing at 4745 Federal Blvd.
